Actually it's not as Post-Soviet as you may think. The idea exists for many in the US where we say "the grass is greener somewhere else." It's a harsh reality of life especially for a the young. My wife had a great experience for the first 20 years in the US but inevitably started missing home. So, I figured it was my turn to come live where she grew up.
