Benjamin, we could gather some empirical evidence from the Ukrainians who are now sitting in foxholes. Not sure anybody would be willing to ask the Russians who are doing the same. Some Ph.D. student or students could probably get huge grants to interview these soldiers in the trenches, especially the one that were constantly being shelled. I personally would be interested in what their thoughts were when they felt like it might be their final moments. Slava Ukraina!
