Check out "Shore of Love" by Oles Honchar. It's probably better in Ukrainian or Russian. I found if for free on the University of Toronto's Electronic Library of Ukrainian Literature. BTW, my friend is a US Combat Veteran and lives in Odesa. It's not a pretty picture at the moment. Enjoy the mountains instead.
