Poem for the City of Kyiv and all those who protect and sacrifice for her

She stands high on the Dnipro, a new beacon of freedom
Our river flows languidly by as a blessed baptismal font
Her golden domes gleam and reflect new fallen snow
Reminding us that there is a greater kingdom yet to come
Does not matter whether Jew, Muslim, Christian or others
Kyiv, our wonderful citadel welcomes all peaceful comers

She has stood for over a millennium against hordes and marauders
Now we all face a new one coming from our own Slavic brothers
Cain once slew Abel, this new fratricide on lands soaked in blood
Abel did not fight back but today, for us, that is not the case
All stand against the butchers of Muscovy, fill the Volga with their blood
Missile strikes and murderous cannons will not bring her down

Our citadel rises on a brand new set of wings
A fortress of Ukraine on hills and slopes, in valleys and steppes
We watch…
