Cool story, bro. Yea, I get your feeling the way you do and how your eyes were opened. I was a Jersey boy who used to cop weed in Camden (NJ) and ended up stationed at MCAS El Toro (Santa Ana) back in the 80's. Being a ne'er do well and a terrible Marine, I moved to Long Beach after I got out. Your story reminds me of the nights we (Joe and I) would ride into Compton and cop crack when it was a new thing, gangsta rap was just being born and killing for cred had just begun. How I survived was by God's grace. Now, I sit in Ukraine in the war with another misunderstood and misjudged people and God makes me strong through them. On a final note, I miss the multiple colors of the American universe, the sound of Spanish, the flow of black steel jive and well, all of it. Ukraine's a little too white for this white boy, but that's ok, it makes up in other areas. Love, peace and bacon grease!
