An Essay about the Destruction of Khakhovka Dam

Наші серця і думки з тобою. Слава Україні!

Rage seeps through burying itself in the heart, mind, and soul. Anger can be contained, the rational mind can overcome it, reason with it. But rage is like a disease, a cancer attacking all that makes us human. I feel rage at the muscovite destruction of the Khakhovka Dam since yesterday. Yesterday, which began with air raids and thirty-five missiles shot down while we sheltered from 01:00 to 04:00 and awoke to the news of the dam’s detonation by these things we call russians. They are things now and have lost all their humanity. Sleep deprivation is something they do to us which they think actually breaks us. Well, if sleep deprivation leads us to their level of depravity, then maybe it’s working. No, really, we are used to having our nights broken up, then waking up and going about our business. On the streets of Kyiv, when I look at the faces, I do not see the rage that I feel seething inside. Today, as I awoke at 04:11, it begins to subside a bit. Oh, it was not the scum enemy that woke me this morning. No missiles or drones so far today. Maybe I awoke in the quiet hours to speak to all of you.

Let me try to help you understand the birth of that rage that is boiling, festering within in me by putting a human face on it. The photograph says it all as to the in the moment suffering…
