The letter below titled “Dear World” was written on February 28, 2022 out of rage and anger. Four full days of war and it seemed then as if the world had written us off in Ukraine and I mean anyone on Ukrainian soil regardless of nationality. We could hear small arms fire, artillery and missile strikes throughout the whole day and night. Air raid alarms were constant. On February 27th, I had waited for Natasha to get back from a quick supply run. Soon as she walked in the door, I told her I was leaving to go join Ukrainian Territorial Defense to protect Kyiv. We saw videos of Muscovite vehicles in Obolon just north of our district. Curfews were heavily enforced as there were Muscovite saboteurs everywhere on the streets. At the moment, it felt like “do or die” time. I wanted to at least be able to protect my neighborhood when the enemy troops entered, and it certainly seemed they were going to be there within hours to a day or two.

I hustled down the main street to the center of the city where the recruitment center was allegedly based at 25 Kreshchatyk Street. A scared and skeptical woman in an official government office directed toward the Kreshchatyk Metro Station where the Kyiv Military Administration was bunkered at the time.
