“Grizzly Goes to the Front” sounds like a children’s story that you might quietly read to your child on a cold winter day in the comfort of your home, doesn’t it? I wish it were so but wishing doesn’t get the job done, does it? However, a hope that I have made this piece compelling enough for the short time it will take you to read this true story from Ukraine’s War for Independence.

Grizzly contacted me the first week of January to let me know he would be heading to the front again to visit the Unit That Cannot Be Named (UTCBN). Don’t ask, don’t tell, the less you know the better, OPSEC and all those things that we must observe to stay safe and not reveal to the enemy. Natasha and I were pretty much still heavily into holiday mode as the season lasts a month here in Ukraine. Yes, even in war, we are able to eat, drink and be merry. I don’t like to bother Grizzly much when he is preparing for the trip or when he is on the trip so waited until two days prior to departure before contacting him again. This was his response:
