November 7, 2024. The US Presidential Election was decided without any domestic problems. It looked like the Republicans were in line to take both chambers of Congress. Natasha and I expected this outcome and were relieved. The slow walking of the previous administration was causing a lot of unnecessary Ukrainian deaths. Yes, President Trump would be unpredictable, but we also figured he would stir the pot. The status quo was scarier than anything else for us. We needed something different in Ukraine. Europe had to be called to task. Yes, it’s all risky but you don’t win battles and wars by being overly careful. Most of the soldiers we know were also of the mindset that things needed to be changed up. We trust their outlook over everyone else’s. Of course, many in civil society went apeshit but the smart ones took the news and started figuring out next steps.
We avoided posting or even talking about the election results with anyone but the level-headed. Emotional reactions were everywhere. Many people in Ukraine along with those outside of the country who support it has been vocal about President Trump being a fascist along with a bunch of 9ther accusations.
