Ironically, we came to Ukraine for almost the same reasons. My remote job is lower-middle in the US and solidly in the middle in Ukraine. The wife decided she would pursue an online masters that will allow her to work remotely in the US while we were still being shot at in Kyiv. So, she'll have to take student loans and we'll both work for a few years before I call it quits in about 6-7 years. So, yes, it is possible to live the life you want, just sadly, probably not in the US.
