Kyiv Christmas

A Christmas Poem from the War

Christmas Centerpiece and Homemade Cookies in Author’s Flat: Kyiv December 17, 2023: Photo by Author

Gray, gray, gray wintry days
Sun, sun, sun seems forever gone
Comes soon a Christmas blaze
Christmas wish that all are home

War, war, war won’t let it be so
Keep fighting in cold rain and snow
Hope, hope, hope-we won’t let it go
Joy of Christmas we hope to know

Will our Christmas in Kyiv be white?
Like it almost always is?
If missiles fall, we still heed Savior’s call
Celebrate! Feast! Kiss beneath mistletoe!
