A poem about the tempest within

Cape May Point Lighhouse: June 2022: Photo by Author

A mystery lies dormant within me
Visions come, visions go, not complete
Not yet to be revealed to mankind
My soul not humble enough, now
A tempest within, a tempest without
Oh, please Lord, let me be worthy
I know that now is not the time

He has stopped speaking to me
His voice must reign over my own
Maybe because I am not low enough
He has stopped to let me gather forces
To bear the cross within, the cross without
No, I know that I have not been abandoned
Left to drift in the tumultuous waters of the world

Does man deserve knowledge of my secret?
Or does He want me to keep this knowledge?
So that when it comes, I alone will be prepared
His will is often so difficult to properly discern
This raft, rises and falls but it does not capsize
I cling to it in the storms that rage against me
Always seeking the lighthouse of God
