Margo On The Front
A Story of Light and Resilience from Ukraine
Margo (Марго Маргоша on Facebook) texts me the picture above on her way to deliver these small drones to a unit fighting in the Bakhmut area:
“I am writing to share my joy. I didn’t think that this could bring joy, but this is really powerful support for the guys at the front.”
My wife and I had just sent our monthly donation to Margo a few days before and she always sends a report on how money is used. We have been supporting Margo for about a year and half after finding her on Facebook through a contact in West Virginia who helps Displaced Ukrainians. So the communication went from Eastern Ukraine-West Virginia-Kyiv-Eastern Ukraine, talk about the circle of life…well, the circle of war really.
Margo uses a smoker at home to prepare meat for the soldiers; cooks and cans for them; and provides other material support. She sent us a flag signed by the guys along with casings from their sniper rifles used against the enemy for Christmas. Look at the picture, she is tired. You can see it in her eyes. Margo never stops. She takes an occasional break but its always with a purpose. Last year, all of us met in Kyiv when she was here taking a seminar on how to help children deal with war trauma.
