My wife has the same issue here in Kyiv. She grew up a Russian speaker but now hates to speak the language and is not yet fluent in Ukrainian. Her family stills speaks Russian so sometimes she must speak it but always comes away with a "bad" taste in her mouth. This is going to be a struggle for years as I still hear Russian quite often on the streets here. Once we achieve victory, inevitably some kind of dialog with the enemy will be necessary on several levels (POW's, reparations, wounded, etc) and that's going to be uncomfortable for a lot of people.
