Not sure about the gnocchi but do know that a lot of allegedly Jewish dishes on US grocery store shelves are actually ancient Slavic dishes. That's been a bone of contention amongst many Slavs and Jews that came from Slavic lands for years. But, I guess it's better to argue over the origins of certain foods\dishes than to shoot each other. BTW, y'all can keep Gefilte Fish as far as I am concerned.
