Ok, I have never felt so alive as when the Russians attacked on February 24, 2022. That sense of life has continued since that very particular moment in time. This applies to just about everyone I know here. Death can come for us here at any moment just like you could be hit by a car. However, death is now a huge part of our life in Ukraine that it's become our companion, our friend. Orthodox Christianity is the dominant religion here and many of its wise teachers tell us to face death everyday. The war has made those of us who were reluctant to that our reality. And...there is comfort in it.
