Originally, I had considered the conversion to Catholicism but the Scholastic approach was a major turn off. The acceptance of the mystery and "not knowing" was the allure of Eastern Orthodoxy which finally caught me. Here in the Russian-Ukrainian War, I have felt a closeness to what I call "God" that I never achieved in the mundane existence that came before. Orthodoxy in Ukraine is messy and free unlike the Russian version. Wild freedom is what free will is about for some of us. As long as you reach the destination, does it matter what path you take?
