Struggling with reading fiction since February 24, 2022. It has become like eating dry toast, just can't get through it and I used to be an avid reader and writer of fiction. Maybe it's war related cognitive dissonance. Hoping it goes away sooner or later as I have a whole list that I would really like to read and a few I would like to write. Non-fiction, spiritual related writing and poetry flow fine but for some reason fiction is just too difficult. Our reality in Ukraine is just too interesting because its real? Anything that is not seems empty. Wish I could do it just for some escapism but every time I try, I lose interest with 1-3 pages for books and 1-3 paragraphs for short stories. Maybe it's because Dostoyevsky was my favorite writer before the attack. Sorry to ramble but I haven't figured out the core reason and it is puzzling. Keep writing fiction writers..hope to get to you one day.
