The Age of Reason is Dead
We have entered a New Age
One might think that someone like me (An Eastern Orthodox Christian EOC) would celebrate the death of the Age of Reason seeing that I must be superstitous believing in a supernatural being and all that. That would be a wrong assessment since God did not call us to be dumbasses. Reason, logic, science, we EOC believe wholeheartedly in using these faculties and disciplines in the exercise of our free will. Studying the mystery that has been given to us is how we do that. Now, I am no theologian nor am I a philospher or prophet.
The Age of Reason is dead because we have now entered the Age of Opinion and Emotion. Take heed, it is a dangerous beast that is increasing in size and influence. You see what I am getting at? This is a worldwide phenomena where people are shunning science, history and all other fact based criteria. People are making decisions based on Internet propaganda with no basis in fact and following leaders who openly shun facts. In fact (pun intended), many of these leaders are appealing directly to emotion (fear, anger, hatred). Give me an atheist with a decent head on his\her shoulders anyday over the rising fanatics that seem to be coming out of the woodwork. Now, there are plenty of adherents to the gods of reason and logic still in existence. But, they are being drowned out by the Internet Mongrel Hordes. I stopped all social…
