Third Christmas at War
A little insight and the First Year Post
I can only say that this Christmas (2024) is the most bleak of all so far. There is also a complete absence of joy this year. Maybe this is because of war, maybe it is because Ukrainians love New Year’s more than Christmas or it could be a combination of both. Frankly, it seems more like the long-term effects of war have settled into our souls and nothing will change that but the end of war. Sometime soon I will write a chapter for Book Three in more detail but for now, this will have to do. Below is my post from the first year of war titled “Christmas in Chernivtsi”.
Today, we celebrate the birth of a baby. Just about the whole world takes part in this celebration. This one birth has brought together trillions of people over the years to give thanks, make merry, stop the influence of the outside world and focus on joy, family, gratitude and giving. A baby who was born without electricity, running water, heat, nestled among poor shepherds and animals. This child was homeless when He was born as well. Yet, billions of people today sit in their warm homes feasting on sumptuous meals, laughing, joking, opening gifts and sharing joy with the ones they love.
