This is an excellent analysis but what I think is missing is that survival of the fittest seems like it will be concentrated in the Northern Hemisphere. Will that lead to an ever increasing North-South divide? Almost all of the most resource rich economies are in the Northern Hemisphere. What of the most essential resource (water)? Right now, we are fighting over energy but when we will we start fighting over H2O? Droughts in the Northern Hemisphere are increasing and there seems no plausible way to "steal" water rich resources from the Southern Hemisphere. Will our next WMD be some sort of technology that can steal rainwater from clouds and direct it to the rich economies? Malthus be damned what about Jean Rascal? Being 2-3 decades from natural death right now seems to make me feel lucky.
