T’was Two Days Before Christmas

A twist on an old classic

T’was two days before Christmas and all through the town
People were hurrying, worrying and scurrying around
They hustled and bustled spending every last dime
Or charging it and saying I’ll pay it all off this time!
Buying crazy useless things all made in China
Buddha rubbed his belly and laughed like a hyena
While they Tweeted, Facebooked and Instagrammed every moment
And the cops sat around watching, each eating a jelly donut
We’re throwing it all away, don’t you just know it?
Stop and listen, can you still hear that magical sound?

Jolly old Santa, could it be he is still coming around?
While some wonder what stores will be open on Christmas Day
True Christmas we see only now in movies for which we pay
We’re just too damn busy for all that nostalgic trash
Yes, we’d all just prefer to take baths in green cash
Than bother with family, church and old St Nick
Who cries up in heaven cause it makes him so sick
But maybe somewhere, sometimes it exists
That magic of Christmas you can’t save in pics
Peace on Earth, well that may never again be true
