Yea, sister, you hit the proverbial nail on the head. The thing is, nobody outside Ukraine will really understand unless they have lived it themselves or are combat veterans of other wars. Living within war and allowing yourself to also live outside it simultaneously is not for the faint hearted. It's this bizarre stream of existence that feels like some surreal fantasy movie at times. My wife and i often talk about how we will live when the war ends without war. The feeling of being alive while our lives are threatened every day has this exhilaration, this spirit of its own. What will we feel like when that is no longer there? Will we still feel every fiber of our bodies and spirits like we do now in the war? How will we adjust to not feeling it? Will we become these adrenalin seekers who need constant stimulation? Will we become addicts? How will we help the veterans and IDP's if we can't keep our own shit together? Maybe that's the mission, keep our shit together for those who defended us, lost limbs, minds, families, pets, jobs, homes. We are being strong now and will again be asked to be strong to help those who suffered more. Will we have that in us? I don't know. I do know that it will be nice to take a long vacation after it is over. Happy Flag Day!
