Yes, I have been thinking very tribal lately from the war here in Ukraine. The Ukrainian troops are working in "Cossack" formations and that's what is getting the job done. Cossack is just another word for tribe. This type of living arrangement is coming at some point. BTW, next time you have an aggressive hive, keep it for a season. You'll find that the aggressive hive produces more honey. I miss beekeeping. My mantra was to let the bees do the work and not mess with their natural order (no re-queening, natural splits-let them make their own queen, natural Varroa and Hive-Beetle control). My 3 hives were super-productive compared to my fellow beekeepers who constantly messed with the natural order. If you can get nucs from bees that were captured by a bee removal service, you will get "survivor" stock with much better genetic diversity. Kinda hard to pull off beekeeping in the Kyiv war zone. We'll change that at some point, hopefully. Peace.
