Yes, the world is just beginning to learn. My wife had a similar experience as a Belarusian. Nobody ever heard of it and just assumed she was Russian. Her Mom is from Belarus and Dad is from Ukraine so now she is happy to have dug deeper into her Ukrainian side. My take? She is more Ukrainian than anything else.
