Yes. There are trees lit in some places and the pedestrian mall is full of places selling mulled wine with beautiful decorations. The mood is rather somber but the children seem to be happy which is what counts. I think it is hard to truly be joyous anywhere in Ukraine but maybe to try and follow the traditions and find moments of peace and reflection. We miss Kyiv every day but know we must do this if we are to go on and survive. We'll be eating borscht and dereni (potato pancakes) in remembrance of better times. Let's hope that all of us can meet up next year at St. Sophia's Square, drink mulled wine and look at the decorations. Best to you both. Stay safe and warm as you can.
